Public Embarrassment

So, I was at a financial planning thing last week for parents of children with Down Syndrome. They were talking about the cost of setting up some trusts, wills, etc. They were using $2 million in assets as an example. At one point, my wife stands up and asks how much money you have to make this all worthwhile "because our assets are really, really meager". Umm... hello, too much information. Maybe it's just me, but aren't there ways to phrase that question that don't involve public humiliation?

It could be worse, that's probably not the worst she's ever done to me.

Yeah, there was that time that we were taking the kids to swimming lessons for the first time. It was at the Community Center. We wanted to film it because, well, that's what parents do. Anyway, we go into the "Family Locker-Room". The sign says you must shower before entering the pool. Teresa takes the kids into the shower and asks me to stay and watch our stuff. So, there I am -- sitting in the family locker-room by myself and holding a video camera. Nice.
